Kleg
Kleg was founded in 1984 for an occasional concert in the Grand Theatre in Groningen.
With a line up of eight electric guitars, four saxes, drums and bass the music was very much influenced by Glenn Branca.
The band played in the top of the venue, the audience stood on the floor.
Kleg was immediately succesfull. The concerts in this first period were mostly in places that were not designed or ment as concert halls, like old factory's, churches (the Martini-church in Groningen), toilet rooms etc.
With a new line up new material was composed, commissioned by the city of Groningen. This resulted in the CD 'Eating and Sleeping', a collage of musical fragments. With a new change in the line-up again a completely new repertoire was composed. This resulted in the CD 'Zing'. Zing was produced by Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth and engineered by Luc van Acker (from Arbeid Adelt).
Again there was a change in line up. This time the band continued the repertoire, gradually developing. Eventually the band moved from Groningen to Rotterdam with more changes in line up, and faded away.
